The Art of a Voice Over

by Avril Lethbridge

You may think that reading into a microphone successfully is easily achieved.

Often clients have said to me ‘There is no need to engage a professional Mary or Robert from Marketing can do it for us and save money’

How wrong they are for it will generally require many more re-takes, cutting out of unnecessary breaths, and editing before the piece is ready for transmission.

A far more costly exercise than using a professional voice –over in the first place.

Even well-known actors/actresses are not necessarily able to fulfil the role.

No, like any other art form it requires talent, a sense of timing, a good ear, voice control and experience.

Panderjam is lucky enough to have one very experienced voice-over on their team Listen and enjoy the various character voices created by Delia Corrie a highly successful exponent of the art. To listen to more or to contact her visit her web site www.deliacorrie.co.uk

Luckily for us Delia has agreed to record quotations and short poems that you have written.

These will be collected into the Panderjam Audio Anthology a patchwork in the style of the Renaissance Common Place book. To use a 17th century synonym a ‘silva rerum’ a forest of things.

Please send us, via the Coffee House Message boards, your striking, haunting or even humorous quotations both poetry and prose.

Your contributions need to be short

Then listen maybe yours has been chosen to be read aloud.
