Philip Evans
Picasso, I don't understand.
But critics right throughout the land
Say he was a genius.
But I think that's rubbish, just between us.
He painted squares and cubes and circles,
In reds, and greens, and blues, and myrtles.
One, like a drawing by a kid
Is worth, I'm told, Ten million quid!
They say that he was very wise,
Because his portraits had their eyes
Pointing in a weird direction,
With their bodies all cut up
Like vivisection.
One in particular that I hate
Was painted in 1938.
Called "The Rooster" - what a shock!
To me,
It is a load of cock.
He painted till he was ninety one,
And it's said he had lots of fun.
Several periods: rose and blue,
Cubic, classic
To name a few.
With women round him by the score,
On he painted, more and more.
Naked women, fruit and apes
All in the most Peculiar shapes.
I've read that he was highly sexed,
Which leaves me really most perplexed.
Scribbles, angles, lines, and cubes? That's not the way
A man paints boobs!
