Playbus Appeal in Oxfordshire

Do you like to be with children and young people and do you like the company of slightly off-beat but dedicated adults who, when the weather’s cold, have a strange line in hats?

Do you have some spare time?

Do you have you skills you’d like to share with children or young people? Music, arts, crafts (e.g. knitting, cookery) or would you like to help children learn how to be safe or to understand disability?

Can you drive a minibus?

Would you like to hold a coffee morning? A sponsored event? Anything your imagination can come up with that’s fun, legal and would raise money?

Would you prefer to work behind the scenes – anything from sterilising toys to being a Trustee?

If you answered yes to the first two questions, at least one other and live in the Oxfordshire area, we’d like to meet you.

Oxfordshire Playbus (registered charity no: 1076728) works across the county with children and young people from birth to 18. We are here to help improve the lives of those who are disadvantaged by poverty, abuse, isolation, prejudice, disability – anything that prevents them having the same opportunities as others.

We provide play activities and services on:

A converted double – decker bus (anything from music to junk modelling to someone to talk to)A Sensory Bus – if you haven’t encountered Sensory Equipment before this one has to be seen to be believed, it even has a starry sky that changes colour – which works with disabled people ranging from the under 5s to the elderly with dementia

We also:

Run minibus trips to local facilities and, in the summer, to the seaside for those who will not have a holiday away and many of whom have never seen the sea beforeRun a toy box scheme for early years’ groups in villages to enable them to offer a toy libraryWork with Thames Valley Police and the Fire Service at Junior Citizen teaching Protective Behaviours (this is a development of Stranger Danger).Teach Disability Awareness to children at primary school.
