TEDDY BEARS ARE YOU OUT THERE?

By MM

Did anyone see an interview with Giles Brandreth and his collection of Teddy Bears', one of which had quite an adventure in Berlin, on Richard and Judy's programme on the TV?

Well,I have two tiny Bears called Ticus and Ketchil, who went through three and half years in a Japanese prisoner of War camp in Sumatra.

The Bears were taken off my Sister and my dressing tables during the hurried exodus from Kuala Lumpur in January 1942. They were then captured along with my Father and his friend by a Japanese Destroyer in the Straits of Sumatra. The tiny Bears spent their internment in brave isolation at the bottom of a kit bag and were finally released in August 1945.

Ticus and Ketchil are now spending their retirement years in the happy company of their old friends Big Ted Bear and Patsy Merrythought Panda, who managed to escape from Malaya and spent their War years on a Sheep station in Australia.

Would any Bears like to swop stories ? ( Please send them to Ticus & Ketchil care of the editor. )
